Staying Safe at WiselyFluent
What are these rules for?
We want you to feel safe, respected and free to be yourself while you learn. These rules explain how we look after one another and what you can do if something feels wrong, in lessons or online.
1. Everyone deserves to feel safe
No one should be hurt, laughed at or left out. We treat one another with kindness and make sure everyone feels welcome.
2. You can speak up
If something worries you or makes you uncomfortable, tell us. Your feelings matter, and you will be listened to.
3. We take your concerns seriously
If someone hurts you, insults you or makes you feel unsafe, tell an adult you trust. You can speak to a teacher or someone at WiselyFluent, send us a message or call us. You can also report a concern without giving your name. We will take what you say seriously.
4. We respect one another
We listen, let others speak and treat their opinions with respect. Your voice matters, and so does everyone else’s.
5. Your boundaries matter
You can say no to being photographed or recorded during lessons. We will respect your decision, and it will not affect your participation.
6. Take care online
Keep your personal information private, and remember that not everything you see online is true. Never meet someone you met online without your parent’s or guardian’s permission. If a message makes you feel uneasy, tell an adult you trust.
7. Ask questions
You can ask questions, share ideas and talk about what matters to you. We’re here to listen.
8. Make room for fun
Learning should give you chances to laugh, explore your interests and discover what you enjoy.
9. Need someone to talk to?
You do not have to handle a difficult situation on your own. You can:
- Call 116 111, the helpline for children and young people.
- Call 800 12 12 12, the Children’s Ombudsman’s helpline.
- Use the Children’s Ombudsman’s online chat.
If you are in immediate danger, call 112.
